According to the report,

…Mumbai's authorities have faced difficulties for many years in modernizing Dharavi due to challenges such as acquiring large plots of land, attracting investors to an area with unstable utilities, and resettling an estimated one million residents who currently live in the neighborhood.

It is likely that the slum will undergo a transformation into modern apartments, offices, and malls, as Adani aims to expand his influence in the financial capital of the country, where he already operates one of the busiest airports.

Nevertheless, the local residents have voiced their opposition to the upcoming redevelopment and expressed concerns about being relocated to distant areas away from the city center or being placed in cramped apartments with inadequate facilities.

At the same time, doubts have been raised regarding Adani's ability to secure the estimated $3 billion required for the project, following a January report by Hindenburg Research, a short-selling firm. This report caused significant damage, amounting to $150 billion, to the conglomerate's market value at one point.

However, the Adani Group firmly denies any wrongdoing in obtaining the necessary funds for the project.
